Platelet Rich Plasma therapy is a new form of regenerative medicine that utilises your own blood, where the platelet rich plasma component is extracted, concentrated and then reintroduced into the scalp for hair loss treatment.

Platelets are the key to the body’s ability to stop bleeding and repair damaged blood vessels and cells in the body. Platelets contain substances called growth factors that activate and rejuvenate cells in the body.

The growth factors, when released, promote tissue repair, angiogenesis (capillary formation), collagen production, and encourages normalisation of the hair follicular unit.

Following PRP therapy, there are some practical instructions and care that must be followed to maximise its benefits. Some of these instructions include avoidance of forceful rubbing (massage) to the area, exercise that increases your heart rate, alcohol avoidance and no hot spas or saunas for 24 hours post treatment.

Preparing for Platelet Rich Plasma treatment for hair loss

Clean eating is essential to gain the most out of your PRP therapy sessions for two weeks leading into a treatment. Hydrate 48 hours prior to each session including 500ml to 1ltr an hour prior to a session. A full list of instructions will be provided at your initial consultation.
